'Beloved tradition'. Review of The Enchanted Cove by

As a child, the stories of E Nesbit enthralled me. The contrast between her very ordinary, realistic child protagonists and the magical adventures that befell them was entrancing— I longed find a cross sand fairy to grant me wishes, or a mysterious amulet to transport me to the past.
Marina Lindsay’s story, The Enchanted Cove, follows this beloved tradition. Four children from 100 years ago are sent to stay with elderly Aunt Alice at her house in beautiful West Cornwall. The magic they encounter— a secret cove, creatures of myth and legend, wreckers from another age and travels in time— holds the same spell.
The author’s delicate illustrations entrance and decorate this charming story. Recommended.
